Why My Word of the Year for 2025 is “Open” (And How You Can Choose Yours)

How “OPEN” Became My Word for 2025

I started choosing a “word of the year” back in my days as an independent sales rep. during an annual goal setting exercise.

I carried the habit forward into my next phase because I like having a value focused theme, as a lens through which I view my life and business, for a 12 month period.

Aligning Projects, Habits, and Goals with Your Word

I evaluate new projects to see if they align with my word. I decide if habits and activities do too. If you are new to choosing a word of the year, there are various techniques online that you can use to help you choose a word to fit with the values and goals you set each year.

I have reached a point where I like my word to come to me, often when I least expect it, as it did recently when I was meditating. The word OPEN, popped to mind and I immediately knew it was the one for 2025.

For 2025, I’m OPEN….

  • To new opportunities

  • To healing

  • For business

  • To abundance

  • To receiving

  • For adventure

  • To feeling all the emotions

  • To letting go, and allowing things unfold

  • To receiving

  • To serving

  • To learning

  • To growth

  • To love in all its forms

  • To blessings and challenges

  • To releasing expectations

  • To releasing doubts and fears

  • To building strength and resilience

  • To meeting the people I need to meet

  • To sharing my skills, experience and expertise

  • To fun, adventure and play

  • To whatever is meant for me

  • To success beyond my wildest imagination

I’ll keep adding to this list as the year unfolds, but for now, I’m leaning into what it means to be truly OPEN.
